Lead coffins were discovered at a burial site in St. Mary’s City, the first capital of Maryland. The lead coffins contained the remains of Philip Calvert, Governor of Maryland in 1660 or 1661, his wife and an infant son. Illustrations of the surface collection, site excavations and DNA testing were commissioned for Maryland Public
Television.
